Study in New Zealand – Complete Admission & Visa Process
1. Offer Letter Stage
University Selection
Choose a New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA)-approved university, institute of technology (polytechnic), or private training establishment.
Required Documents
For Bachelor’s (Undergraduate) Applicants:
- Grade 10 Marksheet and Certificate
- Grade 11 & 12 Transcript / Marksheet
- Grade 12 Character, Provisional, and Migration Certificates
- Two Letters of Recommendation or Medium of Instruction (MOI)
- Valid Passport (scanned copy – all pages)
For Diploma Holders:
- Transcript and Completion Certificate
- Character and Migration Certificates (if available)
- Registration Certificate (if applicable)
For Master’s (Postgraduate) Applicants:
- Bachelor’s Transcript and Provisional Certificate
- Migration and Character Certificates
- Convocation Certificate or Course Completion Letter (as required by the university)
- Two to Three Letters of Recommendation or MOI
- Valid Passport
Additional Required Documents (All Programs):
- Updated Curriculum Vitae (CV) / Resume
- Statement of Purpose (SOP) tailored to your intended course and career goals
- English Proficiency Test (IELTS/PTE, etc.)
- Gap Justification Letter (with training or work experience details)
- Equivalence Certificate (for foreign academic credentials, if required)
- Notarized copies of all academic and supporting documents
- Completed College or University Application Form
Timeline: Offer letters are generally issued within 4 to 14 working days after submission of complete documentation.
2. Financial Documentation (Post-Offer Letter)
If Applying Through a Bank Loan:
- Educational Loan Sanction Letter from a recognized bank (e.g., Nabil or SBI Bank)
- Recommended Loan Amounts:
- Minimum NPR 6.5 million for Level 5 & 6 programs
- Minimum NPR 7 million for Level 7 & 8 programs
· All the academic documents provided to the bank
If Applying Through Bank Balance:
- 6-month-old Bank Balance Certificate and Statement from Nabil or SBI Bank
- Income Verification Letter from the local ward office
- Income Supporting Documents (salary slips, pension, business registration and income, agriculture, rent, etc.)
- Tax Clearance Certificate
- 6-month saving history from another A-Class financial institution (if applicable)
If Using Foreign Income:
- Employment Letter with salary details
- Copy of a valid passport and visa
- Employment Contract
- Last 6 months’ pay slips and bank statements
Important Note:
- Cash deposits are not accepted.
- Any large deposits must be made via cheque and have traceable documentation.
- Funds from gold loans, property sales, Kisan Credit Card loans, or agricultural income must be verifiable and held for a minimum of 6 months.
3. Pre-Visa Requirements
- Pay the tuition deposit as per the institution’s instructions
- Complete Tuberculosis (TB) Test from IOM or Norvic Hospital
- Prepare for a telephonic visa interview
- Obtain AIP (Approval in Principle) from New Zealand Immigration
- Apply for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Ministry of Education, Nepal
- Required: Transcript, Citizenship, Offer Letter
4. Visa Documentation Checklist
- Valid Offer Letter / CAS (if applicable)
- Academic Documents from Grade 10 onwards
- Valid Passport (complete scanned copy)
- Letters of Recommendation or MOI
- Statement of Purpose (SOP)
- Updated CV / Resume
- Financial Proof (Bank Certificate or Loan Documents)
- TB Test Report
- Police Clearance Report (last 6 months)
- Digital Photo (MRP size)
- Online Visa Application Form
- 1226 Declaration Form (signed)
- Supplementary Information Form (filled by student)
- Relationship Certificate
- Citizenship Certificates of Students and Family Members
- Birth Certificate
- Marriage Certificate (if married)
- Visa Fee Payment Receipt (approximately NZD 330)
- Draft payment to TT Services India (for visa processing)
- Previous Visa Refusal Letter (if applicable)
After completing the visa application, courier the original passport and TT draft to TT Services India and await visa interview or decision.
5. After AIP Approval
- Issue No Objection Letter from the Ministry of Education
- Pay 1-year tuition fee + insurance + material fee (as per offer letter) via bank telegraphic transfer
- Submit the following documents:
- TT Fee Payment Receipt
- Offer Letter Acceptance
6. Post-Payment Documentation (To Submit to Visa Officer Online)
- Tuition Fee Payment Receipt from the institution
- Loan Disbursement Letter with Account Number (if applicable)
- Loan Account Statement post-fee payment
- Updated Offer Letter (if intake is deferred)
7. Dependent Information
- A dependent visa may be allowed depending on the course level and the institution
- Living expenses must be added for dependents:
- Inside Auckland: approx. NZD 1,667/month
- Outside Auckland: approx. NZD 1,250–1,500/month
- Sponsorship and relationship proof required
8. General Information
- Visa Type: Fee-Paying Student Visa
- Language of Instruction: English
- Interview: Conducted via phone (university-specific); no embassy interview unless requested
- Intakes:
- February (Primary intake)
- July (Mid-year intake)
- Rolling intakes for certain private institutes
