Eastern Institute of Technology (EIT) Overview
Eastern Institute of Technology (EIT), also known as Te Aho a Māui, is a government-owned tertiary education provider in New Zealand, with major campuses in Hawke’s Bay (Napier), Gisborne (Tairāwhiti), and Auckland. Established in 1975 and now part of the national Te Pūkenga network, EIT offers over 150 NZQA-accredited qualifications, including certificates, diplomas, degrees, postgraduate diplomas, and master’s programs.
EIT is known for its strong focus on practical, industry-aligned education supported by experienced academic staff and small class sizes. Its programs are designed to give students hands-on experience through real-world training and internships, ensuring graduates are career-ready.
The Hawke’s Bay campus features modern learning environments, including training kitchens, trades workshops, healthcare labs, and a dedicated wine science center.
